I know what it’s like to be in a family of twelve and to have nine siblings. It can be very chaotic and loud. Life is always a party at our home and most holidays we have more family over. We all have to pitch in and do chores even though most of the time my mom does them… Even though it is chaotic we still love each other.

My family is pretty crazy because I have six sisters and three brothers. In the morning it’s extremely chaotic since six of us are scrabbling around trying to get ready for school. Whether it’s getting dressed, making breakfast, or making your lunch there is a lot happening. Just when things seem like it can’t get more crazy, the two year old, Victoria, will start crying for no apparent reason. With all the commotion happening to leave for school it’s time to get in the van. By the time we load up it’s 7:45. Normally after school my mom have a snack for us. We do homework, play outside (sometimes), and I practice my cello until it’s chore time. We put away laundry, vacuum, clean the bathroom. We put away our laundry/ our buddies laundry. A buddy one of the little ones that still needs help with getting dressed or getting their dinner. After our crazy, and very loud dinner, it’s bedtime. We throw a few kids in the tub, get them dressed, they brush their teeth and get vitamins. Then there is finally peace after they’re all in bed.
The chores in the family have to be evenly divided or else everyone starts complaining. Actually everyone complains either way… I personally have to vacuum the living room and my bedroom, I also care for the chickens… sometimes. Currently I am training my younger brother David to take over the chicken chore. My other siblings have to either sweep, or clean the bathroom, etc. my older sister, my younger sister and I have certain nights to do the dishes so that we don’t fight over whose night it is. On Sunday nights we normally clean everything so that the next day everything is clean for Monday. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up on the chores during the week because of school but everything ends up working out.

At times it can be difficult because bills can be really high, like the water and electric bill, and there are so many of us that it can get intense. Even though it is a lot of work for everyone and sometimes very loud we still laugh a lot and have fun. We always have the holiday parties at my house which is one of my favorite things in the world, to spend time with all my family. We love to harmonize and sing, but sometimes my parents aren’t too big of fans of it. We LOVE going to the beach all together, we play in the water, make sand castles, or have sand fights. Afterwards it is a tradition too go too fosters. I get asked a lot “Do you like to live in a big family?” I’ll reply “I love all my siblings and parents to death but I don't’ know any different.”

It may be crazy but I love my family so much, I would do anything for them. If hard times come we always have eachother no matter what (yes I know what you're thinking, that was super cheesy, but it’s so true.) That’s how I know what it’s like to be in a family of twelve.
